SELF LOVE!

Good morning and welcome to another lovely Monday everyone!

I am going to come right out and say it; SELF LOVE is on my mind today and I think that we do not spend enough time here talking about it. ❤ When it comes to down to optimizing our physical and mental, health and well-being, many may think it is primarily about hydration, sleep, diet and exercise. Think again beautiful, as I am hear share with you just how important self-love/care is in this amazing, never ending, journey to happiness, contentment & satisfaction.

I have mentioned to most of my current clients one of my most favorite phrases, "You cannot pour from an empty cup, so do your due diligence to always make sure yours is plentiful before sharing with others". To some, this may initially sound selfish or ill intentioned, but to those who are not reactive but truly take a step back and feel what those words mean, you will make the easy connection that it is actually, self-less.

YOU are taking care of YOU, first, so that in turn you can take care of others with a fuller heart, with more to share. I do not know about you guys, but I want to be the absolute best version of myself everyday so that I can turn around and LOVE my friends, family, coworkers, clients, strangers on the sidewalk etc. etc. with everything I got! SO do not feel like you are being SELFISH when you take time to give to yourself before giving to others. Trust me, not only will they unknowingly thank you for it, but your mind, body and spirit will thank you just the same!

Now, that being said, to keep this post from turning into a full blown novel (which I could most likely easily do), I am going to share just a couple of ways that I, personally practice self-care on a daily basis to make sure that I am serving up the best version of myself as often as I can!

Fall asleep with intention – My morning routine starts the night before when I go to bed. I also set aside time to do meditation and appreciate my day. Instead of running through all the things that didn’t go well or focusing on what I disliked, I focus on the good aspects of the day. This helps me drift off into peace and I actually sleep better. When I wake up the next morning, I feel more grounded and focused.

Wake up in gratitude – In the morning, before I even open my eyes I almost always say, “thank you.” I thank the universe for another day and for my health and for a good night’s sleep, etc. I run through a list of things I appreciate in my life, including myself. Appreciating yourself is an important part of living a balanced day. When you focus on what you are thankful for you feel more grounded, balanced, and in joy. Making a gratitude list first thing in the morning is a great way to start your day with more joy and clarity.

I compliment myself – On the surface, this may feel a little odd, especially when we don’t have a solid self-care practice. But during my own self-love experiments, I realized how powerful words can be, and when we say things that are mean to ourselves, we hinder our ability to be happy. I used to look in the mirror and say things like, “you are so unworthy,” “you are ugly,” “look at these horrible imperfections.” BUT when I decided to consciously focus on becoming my own friend, I started to train my brain to see the good. Now I look in the mirror and compliment myself. I say things like, “What a beautiful smile! Good morning, gorgeous. Hello, lovely.” Speaking kindly to ourselves is an important way to feel more in control, motivated and over all BALANCED.

Remember ladies and gentlemen, truly taking care of yourself isn’t just about “drinking your green juice” or “practicing yoga every day”; it is also about how you talk to yourself and your mental habits. I love you all!

As always, reach out to me to continue this conversation, human connection is just another way we find utter happiness and fulfillment in this beautiful life.
